HCB increases electricity production

Last year, the Cahora-Bassa Hydroelectric Power Plant produced around 98,53% of electricity for export and domestic consumption, reports Rádio Moçambique.

The figure, according to the source, represents an increase on the planned target for 2023, which called for energy production of fourteen million eight hundred and forty-six thousand seven hundred and twenty mega watts.

Part of this production was used to feed the large manufacturing industries, under the agreements signed with some electricity sales companies in the republics of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The Secretary of State in Tete said that the level of electricity production gives the province an air of comfort, at a time when new investments in the same area are expected.

Elisa Zacarias said that new projects were expected to come on stream in the province in the near future, such as the photovoltaic plant in the Changara district.

She said that in terms of mining production, coking coal achieved around eighty-two point three percent, while thermal coal achieved ninety-nine percent.
