The National Inspectorate for Economic Activities (INAE) says that there are sales of expired and damaged products and also price speculation in the main markets in Maputo province.
The finding was made as part of monitoring and inspection work aimed at checking the availability of food products in the markets.
The delegate of the National Inspectorate of Economic Activities in Maputo, João Itai, was quoted by Rádio Moçambique as saying that the danger is indeed enormous.
"We all know that some economic agents do this in bad faith; they sell products that are out of date or even damaged and that the inspection doesn't take place on the ground," he said.
People, too, because of the crisis, end up buying and consuming what could have negative effects on their health," he said.
