Government says Flame of National Unity will reconcile Mozambicans

Governo diz que Chama da Unidade Nacional vai reconciliar os moçambicanos

The Flame of National Unity, which will tour the country from April 7, will help reconcile Mozambicans and promote the preservation of the history of the liberation struggle, said the Speaker of the Council of Ministers.

Inocêncio Impissa also said that the Flame of National Unity will raise self-esteem, educate young people in patriotism and peace, and highlight the achievements of the 50 years of independence.

He urged all Mozambicans to take part in the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of national independence, regardless of their differences, especially those who are turning half a century old this year.

It should be noted that the march to commemorate the National Independence Jubilee starts on Monday, April 7, and ends on June 25, at the Machava Stadium, in the city of Matola.

The entire journey, through all the country's provinces, will take 79 days, and the estimated cost for logistics is between 22 million meticais and 30 million meticais.

"This flame will allow reconciliation after the latest episodes (...), so that our Mozambicanness is once again unblemished (...)," said the Speaker of the Council of Ministers.

The government spokesman was speaking this Friday at a press conference in Maputo City.
