Nearly 20 hectares of various crops are flooded in the Chibuto district of Gaza, due to the overflow of the Cicacate River. The main crop is maize.
Speaking to Rádio Moçambique, the Chibuto district administrator, César Moiane, said that at the moment the Cicacate River is above the alert level due to runoff, a situation made worse by the rain that has been falling in the region.
Moiane also explained that the situation has become alarming since Thursday, when the river started flooding field crops in the riverside areas.
