Illustrated by Ribeiro Micas, winner of the FLIK 2022 illustration contest, A revolta dos bichos is a children's tale that invites readers to appreciate a certain landscape of nature and to reflect on their everyday senses.
According to Miguel Ouana, "I bring in this tale the man-animal conflict as well as the need to preserve the environment. I put the man devastating the forest, putting the animals without a roof over their heads, which creates revolt.
They get together and do, like the men, the ceremony of evoking the ancestors, in order to restore their habitat, which has come to pass, but with unprecedented flooding in the men's village."
For Miguel Ouana, A revolta dos bichos and children's literature in general is fundamental because, besides stimulating children's imagination, it prepares them to become adult readers.
