Fossil launches new Gen 6 line of smartwatches with performance improvements

The new Gen 6 line of smartwatches features Wear OS as the operating system, albeit in version 2. Fossil plans to make an upgrade to the latest version of Google's operating system available in 2022, although it doesn't give many more details regarding a concrete date.

Fossil has just announced its latest line of smartwatches. The new Gen 6 range of smartwatches is the brand's first with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, promising improvements in performance and power consumption, as well as faster charging, reaching 80% in about 30 minutes.

Fossil's new smartwatches feature Wear OS 2 as their operating system, with support for Google Assistant and Google Pay. The brand plans to offer an upgrade to the latest version of Google's operating system, which is present in Samsung's new smartwatches, starting in 2022, although it does not give many more details regarding a concrete date.

The brand indicates that through the new Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, the latest generation of smartwatches has a higher level of performance 30% compared to the previous one. The watches feature Bluetooth 5 support for better connectivity, and once connected to a smartphone, they allow you to make and receive phone calls.

The watches allow continuous monitoring of the user's heart rate, and also include an SpO2 sensor to measure the level of oxygen in the blood. Also featured is a new integrated app that gives fitness enthusiasts the ability to keep track of all their progress. There is also room for sleep monitoring features.
