Ford to invest USD 2 billion in electric cars

Ford plans to launch seven new electric cars on the European market and will invest about two billion dollars to do so.

The new models are expected to hit the market in 2024, to join the Ford Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit in the manufacturer's 100% electric range.

The company's aim is to sell 600,000 electric vehicles by 2026, with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035. "It's also about the pressing need for greater care for our planet," said Ford's head of Europe, Stuart Rowley.

The amount Ford has to invest will allow the brand to bet on new market segments with electric cars, namely in the commercial area - with the Transit Courier and Tourneo Courier.

"These new electric vehicles from Ford signal something that is nothing less than a total transformation of our brand in Europe - a new generation of zero-emission vehicles, optimized for a connected world, offering our customers a truly remarkable user experience," he said.

"Our march toward an all-electric future is an absolute necessity for Ford to meet the mobility needs of customers in a changing Europe," Rowley explained.
