As part of its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, Fidelidade Ímpar successfully implemented a coffee capsule reuse project, launched six months ago.
In this edition, the insurance company reused more than 6,000 capsules, making a significant contribution to reducing solid waste.
The project involved the active participation of employees, resulting in the promotion of ecological practices both inside and outside the company.
The coffee capsules were obtained following an internal campaign to collect them in bags made from recycled material, preventing them from being disposed of inappropriately.
The recycling methods implemented included separating the materials, composting and specific recycling, as well as using the capsules in craft projects.
One of the most innovative aspects of the project was the reuse of coffee grounds as fertilizer for plants. This initiative provided participants with a practical opportunity to learn how to use this waste in sustainable gardening.
In addition to its employees, Fidelidade Ímpar replicated this dynamic with children on International Children's Day, teaching them how to reuse coffee grounds. The aim of the initiative was to make young people aware of the importance of recycling and sustainability, giving them a practical and educational experience.
"It was interesting to see the involvement of many children in this activity, to see them enthusiastically removing the coffee grounds to fortify the plants and also making various types of toys with the capsules," said Silénia Valoi, head of Sustainability and Social Responsibility at Fidelidade Ímpar.
The insurer intends to expand the coffee capsule recycling project to the provinces where it operates, helping farmers to improve their gardens by using the coffee grounds to produce quality fertilizer. The expansion of the project will include several other players with the aim of increasing the project's environmental impact.
This and other actions to preserve the environment are remarkable. Fidelidade Moçambique is part of the Fidelidade Group, considered at the end of last year to be the second best insurance company in Europe and the fourth best in the world in terms of sustainability.
The ranking, awarded by Morningstar Sustainalytics, an international benchmark company that produces a global sustainability ranking, took into account the Group's strategies alongside its employees, partners and customers in ecological transition actions that generate change in favor of sustainability.
