A flock of birds crashed into a Mozambique Airlines (LAM) aircraft yesterday on the Maputo/Nampula/Maputo flight, after take-off at Maputo International Airport.
LAM explains in a statement that the crash caused damage to one of the aircraft's reactors, which forced it to return to the runway and land safely, without the need for assistance for either passengers or crew.
LAM also said in its statement that in view of the incident, mechanisms were put in place to transport the affected passengers on another aircraft that left Maputo at 10pm yesterday.
He adds that the immobilization of the aircraft hit by the birds will cause some flights to be rescheduled for today, Saturday.
