Elon Musk Says Optimus Robot Will Be Worth More Than Automotive Business

Elon Musk believes that the company's robot, Optimus, will "worth more than the car business". The statement was made during the company's quarterly call with investors, where the Tesla owner assured that he continues to work on the robot, advances the "Tech Crunch", quoted by the newspaper Economic.

Besides guaranteeing that the robot will surpass the car brand's valuation, the Space X owner goes further and says that it will be worth even more than Tesla's autonomous driving system (Full Self-Driving Computer or FSD, in English. This system which relies on cameras and computer vision technology to perform some autonomous driving tasks. A subscription to FSD costs owners of those cars about $12,000 (11,100 euros), or up to $199 (185 euros) per month.

Optimus was first introduced in August 2021 during Tesla's inaugural AI day. The six-foot robot will rely on Tesla's work on neural networks and Dojo's advanced supercomputer, and Musk envisions that it could eventually perform tasks that can otherwise be described as human jobs, things like shopping or other everyday tasks.

"I was surprised that people didn't realize the magnitude of the Optimus robot program," the tech site quotes Musk's statements on the call Wednesday. "The importance of Optimus will become evident in the coming years. Those who are perceptive will realize that Optimus will eventually be worth more than the auto business, and more than FSD."
