The Angolan National Electoral Commission (CNE) announced today that the ruling MPLA party maintains its advantage, with 52.8% of the votes, followed by UNITA, with 42.8%, when 86.41% of the votes have been counted in Wednesday's general elections.
With 77,12% of the votes counted in Luanda, the União Nacional para a Libertação Total de Angola (UNITA) leads with 62,93% of the votes and the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA) follows in second place with 33,06%, CNE spokesperson Lucas Quilundo announced today. (Lusa/Noam)
