PRM leaders challenged to end public disorder

Dirigentes da PRM desafiados a acabar com a desordem pública

The leaders of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique, PRM, were challenged by the Minister of the Interior to put an end to public disorder, characterized by vandalizing and looting public and private property, placing barricades on the streets and roads.

Paulo Chachine said that you can't normalize the abnormal, and stressed that what is abnormal must be treated as such and must be combated.

"My friends, the watchword is to put an end to public disorder. Public disorder must disappear from our dictionary. We have to look at common crime, which is normal, which can happen, but we have to put an end to public disorder," said the minister, quoted by AIM.

He was speaking during the swearing-in of police commissioners and SERNIC staff yesterday (12) in Maputo.

According to him, in order to prevent and combat crime, protect people and property, and protect public and private institutions, "it is necessary for each holder to take responsibility for reinvigorating the functioning and performance of their sector, combining the human, financial and material resources placed at their disposal in an intelligent and rational manner, so that they produce the desired results".

The source says that it is essential for those who have been sworn in to promote higher levels of readiness, discipline, grace and poise within the force, in the light of the law and the internal regulations governing the PRM, in order to successfully combat crime.

At the ceremony, the provincial commanders of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) were sworn in: Arnaldo Chefo for Maputo city, Victor Novela for Maputo province, Beatriz Tichala for Inhambane province and Ernesto Madungue as provincial commander for Sola province.

Paulik Ucacha also took office as provincial commander of the PRM in Zambézia and Jordão Massingue as National Director of Operational Investigation at the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC).
