It was with the fight against cybercrime in mind that Locard Corporate Protection, a Mozambican private security company dedicated to corporate solutions, recently launched its Cybersecurity Center.

The investment is focused on two segments that until now have not been explored in the country, namely property security and corporate security and risk control.

According to a company press release, the two security components include all legal and technological measures, as well as methods aimed at protecting legal and natural persons and assets, with an emphasis on critical information infrastructures in virtual space.

In this field, says the note that MZnews had access to, Locard intends to face the challenges imposed by the growing progress of Information and Communication Technologies, adopting a strategy of priorities, flexible, repetitive and focused on performance and cost effectiveness.

Given the weaknesses of the Mozambican market in this area, "the company understands the importance of working together with private and government entities and key infrastructure operators, in order to help identify, assess and manage cyber risks," it reads.  in the note.

Júlio Mabota, Locard's Director of Security and Risk Control, explains that "in Mozambique, this matter is governed by the electronic transactions law, which incorporates various aspects such as e-Government, e-Commerce and data protection".

"As there is no specific law to regulate it, cyber security must be tackled responsibly and with the involvement of all living forces in society, so that the country can make the most of cyber space," he said.

A recent study carried out by Locard indicates that only 50% institutions have the support of a specialized company for the protection of confidential data, a scenario that the company intends to change.

"Most Mozambican companies are still very vulnerable to malware and hacker attacks, which can compromise sensitive data, customer, partner and employee information, as well as compromising the functioning of essential programs for the company," says Júlio Mabota.

With consulting services in compliance, forensics, due diligence, financial auditing and risk analysis, among others, the company relies heavily on the use of state-of-the-art protection technologies and equipment, enabling a secure digital environment where individual and collective clients are duly protected from possible fraud and irregularities.

Locard aims to become a benchmark in the private security market at national and international level by coordinating the creation of a safe and reliable cyber space.
