The mayor of Nacala, Raul Novinte, is upset with his employees due to the poor results in revenue collection in each of the markets, which he said are below 500 meticais a day. He said he needed money to pay the salaries of the same employees and the rest of the municipality's staff.
"We have 28 markets and it doesn't make sense that in each market there is daily revenue of 200, 300, 400, 500 Meticais and the worst is in the Namapa and Alta markets in the city, with revenue of around 2,000.00 Meticais. And, at the end of each month, you will need salaries when you don't bring in the revenue that serves you and the rest of us, who deserve salaries based on the revenue harvested in the markets," said Novinte, furious at the situation, adding that the commitment of the employees should be based on performance and de-partisanship.
In a video circulated by the Municipality's own communications and image office, the Mayor made it known that some of the employees will be suspended at random, and some will be reported, depending on the income they show in the balance sheets. The reorganization of the collectors, inspectors and collection group has just been redone by the Mayor himself.
"I'm going to put collectors from small markets, who bring in convincing revenue, in large markets and I'm going to demand targets in collections," said the president, also promising expulsions. "And I will carry out this action of removal, replacements and even expulsions, for all the employees of this Municipality, as soon as I find similar reasons," he said.
