The National Electoral Commission (CNE) called a press conference for this afternoon and clarified that "what was observed on some ballot papers in certain regions is due to the fact that some parties did not present candidacies in several assemblies".

The clarification comes after the circulation of several images showing a change in the position of the Podemos party on the ballot paper in some of the country's provinces.

CNE spokesman Paulo Cuinica also appealed to the population, saying that the polls will close strictly at 6pm and encouraged citizens to exercise their right to vote.
