Cinco milhões de pessoas necessitam de assistência humanitária em Moçambique

The United Nations representative in Mozambique, Joyce Msuya, revealed on Tuesday that five million people are in need of humanitarian assistance in the country.

The information was given in the city of Pemba, after a meeting Msuya had with the Head of State, Daniel Chapo, which was aimed at discussing the humanitarian crisis in Mozambique and reinforcing the commitment of international agencies to support the new government.

"We discussed three things: drawing attention to the humanitarian crisis in this country, which has five million people in need of assistance," said Msuya.

He reaffirmed the United Nations' commitment to supporting the government in providing humanitarian assistance, emphasizing the need to align international efforts with national priorities.

"We have also come to understand what your government's priorities are so that we can align our support with the final and universal call we have, which is to serve Mozambicans who are suffering," he added.

The President of the Republic expressed his gratitude for the support of the United Nations, recognizing the importance of international cooperation in combating the humanitarian crisis in Mozambique. The government reaffirms its commitment to continue working closely with humanitarian organizations to guarantee food security and the well-being of the most vulnerable population.
