Cyclone chido: More than 100,000 families still without power in central and northern Portugal

Ciclone chido: Mais de 100 mil famílias continuam sem energia no centro e norte do país

The Tropical Cyclone "CHIDO", which made itself felt in the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Nampula, also impacting the provinces of Niassa and Zambézia, continues to cause damage to the electricity system, interrupting the supply of electricity in various parts of those provinces.

According to a note from the company Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), around 110,000 of the company's customers are currently without electricity due to the impact of cyclone chido.

According to the note to which MZNews has had access, the districts that are still without electricity are as follows: Cabo Delgado: Pemba, Mecufe, Metuge, Montepuez, Ancuabe, Chiúre, Quissanga and Ibo.

 Zambezia: Morrumbala and Dere.

 Niassa: Maúa, Metarica and Nipepe.

The company also says that EDM's technical teams are on the ground, working on the network to gradually restore the system. However, weather conditions and the inaccessibility of some locations have been the biggest obstacles and are contributing to the delay in restoring the electricity supply.
