Torrential rains cause derailment of train with 300 passengers in Maputo. No casualties

A locomotive carrying 300 passengers derailed today in Maputo province, due to the displacement of the railway line, without causing casualties, reported the company Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM).

According to the CFM spokesman, Adélio Dias, quoted by Lusa, the train went off the tracks, at the arrival of the level crossing, after the railway had moved, due to the dragging of the soil that supports the track, following the torrential rains in Maputo province.

Dias said that the incident conditioned the circulation of trains and vehicles on the railway line between Manhiça district and Maputo province. However, he assured that the line is already being restored.
