China is an unavoidable partner of Mozambique, says President of Parliament

The President of the Assembly of the Republic (AR), Esperança Bias, recognized today the importance of the bilateral partnership between Mozambique and China.

"The relations between the two countries are quite old and have been fortified over time. We can say that China is always present in the most difficult moments in Mozambique," said Esperança Bias, recalling China's recent support during the covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking in a virtual meeting with the President of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CCPPC), Wang Yang, Esperança Bias acknowledged that the bilateral relations of cooperation between Mozambique and China are stable, and advanced that he intends to strengthen the economic and political relations between the nations.

"Mozambique and China cooperate in the political, economic and social areas. The relations are quite good, and this can be witnessed by the exchange of delegations from both countries. These relations are strengthened through participation in the China-Africa Forum and the Belt and Road Initiative," said the President of Parliament, quoted by RM.

Also during the meeting, Bias spoke of Mozambique's stage of development and stressed that the current political situation of the stable nation.

The Parliamentary President also said that despite the terrorist attacks in the north of the country state and private institutions have already resumed their functioning thanks to the selfless commitment of the security forces.

"This firmness of the Mozambican Defense and Security Forces, together with the direct support of the SADC [Southern African Development Community] countries, among others, the populations are already starting to return to their areas of origin," he said.
