The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, announced on Monday that the political parties with representation in parliament and the government have reached a consensus on the terms of reference that will guide crucial reforms for the country's political, economic and social stability.
The reforms, according to the Head of State, will focus on the revision of the Electoral Law and the decentralization process, measures aimed at preventing future electoral conflicts and achieving economic stability.
"Our goal is peace, security, economic, social and political stability so that together we can continue to develop our country, Mozambique, which is home to all of us," he told the press at the end of the political dialogue with the parliamentary parties.
For now, the next stage is to formalize the decisions in a document that will be signed by the leaders of the political parties sitting in Parliament.
"We've been working this afternoon as part of the follow-up to the political dialogue and we have terms of reference to work on the document, a document that can end up after all the consensus has been formulated, with signatures, as a concrete commitment from the leaderships," he said.
The President of the Republic also expressed his willingness to continue working with the living forces of civil society to ensure that the proposed reforms are implemented and that Mozambique can move towards a more peaceful and prosperous future.
The meeting took place at the Office of the President of the Republic, as part of the search for solutions for political stability and effective peace after a wave of post-election violence.
