The company Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) suffered losses of 25.5 million dollars caused by Cyclone Freddy.
The data was shared yesterday (09.03) by the chairman of CFM's board of directors, Agostinho Langa, at the opening of the XXVI Board of Directors of the national logistics and iron-port handling giant, which is taking place in Matibane, Mossuril district, Nampula province, writes Notícias online quoting AIM.
Langa specified that these are preliminary figures, as work is continuing to assess the damage caused by the storm.
"Preliminary data indicates that, with the stoppage of the lines, the company had an accumulated loss of 2.4 million US dollars in infrastructure and equipment alone in the Central system and 6.1 million in the Southern system," he said.
The source went on to say that "in terms of losses, because we haven't transported the cargo, we have a total of 17 million US dollars, both in terms of railroads and ports".
