Cerca de 25 mil candidatos disputam 4,6 mil vagas na UEM

Around 25,000 candidates will compete for admission to the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), Mozambique's oldest higher education institution.

For the current academic year 2025, UEM is offering 4,610 places, of which 3,100 are for on-the-job courses and 1,510 for after-work courses, with 56% female and 44% male applicants.

It should be noted that in the 2024 academic year, 24,626 candidates applied for 4,275 places, which means an increase of 335 places, corresponding to 2.5%.

According to the report released this Monday (27) in Maputo, the most popular courses are Law, Medicine, Computer Engineering, Accounting and Finance, Electrical Engineering and Biology and Health.

The report also states that the exams will be held in a mixed model, consisting of integrated exams lasting 3 hours for two subjects and non-integrated exams lasting 1.30 hours for one subject, in courses with a specific character such as Music, Theatre and Physical Aptitude for Sports Science courses.

It's worth noting that these exams will take place in all the provincial capitals in the current week, from January 28th to 31st, and will be held simultaneously with those of Zambezi University and Lúrio University.

It is important to remember that UEM offers 123 undergraduate courses in both face-to-face and distance learning modalities.

As part of this year's curriculum reform, UEM will be introducing new courses to be offered during and after working hours, namely Oil and Gas Geoscience, Applied and Environmental Geophysics, Hydrogeology and Water Resources, Geology and Mineral Research, and Philology Teaching.

Candidates are advised to find out in advance about the access to their examination room and to be present on the scheduled day and time, with a photo ID, pencil, eraser and blue or black ballpoint pen.

They must also present themselves at the exam venues at least 30 minutes before the start of the exams, i.e. no later than 7.30 a.m. for morning exams and no later than 1.30 p.m. for afternoon exams. (AIM)
