Last Thursday, March 20, the Mozambique/USA Chamber of Commerce (CCMUSA) paid a visit to the Ministry of Economy, where it was received by Basílio Muhate, Minister of Economy, Secretary of State for Trade and other Ministry officials.
The visit was attended by a delegation of more than 15 businesspeople who are members of CCMUSA, representing various companies and institutions in the private sector.
Government commitment to economic development
During the meeting, Minister Basílio Muhate expressed his thanks for the visit and gave an overview of the challenges and priorities of the Ministry of Economy, which covers areas such as Tourism, Trade and Industry. The Minister pointed out that, despite being a new Ministry, it brings a new dynamic, with a focus on removing barriers in the country's business environment.
The minister also stressed the importance of maintaining a permanent dialogue between the government and the private sector, so that they can work together to solve the country's economic problems.
Another point addressed by the Minister was the need to recover the economy from the impact of the violent demonstrations that affected various regions of the country, stressing the urgency of creating an environment of stability for economic growth.
Entrepreneurs' view
For his part, the President of CCMUSA, Onório Manuel, thanked the Minister for the reception and the opportunity to talk to him. He highlighted the willingness of CCMUSA members to collaborate with the government in various areas, with a particular focus on enhancing the local processing of products.
The President also took the opportunity to thank the US government for approving the loans to ExxonMobil, which are supporting important projects in the Cabo Delgado region.
The president of CCMUSA reaffirmed his commitment to creating more jobs for young Mozambicans and contributing to the sustainable growth of the national economy.
The visit reaffirms the commitment of CCMUSA and the government to work together to solve economic challenges and promote an environment conducive to business growth in Mozambique.
Collaboration between the private sector and the government is fundamental to the country's development, and CCMUSA will continue to support initiatives aimed at creating more job opportunities, strengthening local industry and recovering the economy.
