The provincial coordinator of Podemos in Cabo Delgado, Assane Singano, accuses the electoral management bodies in some districts of refusing to accredit inspectors from his political group. Singano indicated that the refusal is taking place in the districts of Mecufi, Namuno and Metuge.
The leaders of these institutions are making it difficult for their party's inspectors to be accredited by using repealed laws.
"They think the parties don't know the laws, but it's all the work of those in power to prevent democracy from advancing. We follow step by step all the changes that are being made to the electoral package," said Singano, calling on the heads of those electoral administration bodies to comply with the law.
The source also said that the STAEs' and CDEs' maneuvers are aimed at preventing the voting process from being monitored in order to allow the ballot boxes to be stuffed and Frelimo to win illegally.
"That's what they did with the CAD about criminal records in some districts. They didn't want to issue it and they had to contact their superiors to get over it," Singano said, adding that in some cases militants had to travel to Pemba to get around the sabotage.
As a result, the provincial leadership of Podemos is scheduled to travel to the districts with all the legislation in force to rebut the arguments of the electoral administration bodies.
