Búzi Hidrocarbonetos seeks buyers of natural gas

Market search comes after confirmation of the existence of marketable gas in the Sofala province region.

According to the newspaper "O País", Búzi Hidrocarbonetos is already looking for buyers for the natural gas of Búzi, confirmed through researches made by the Indonesian company EMP. Even though the identification of the existing natural gas potential in the Búzi Basin in Sofala is still pending, Búzi Hidrocarbonetos already knows that the resource is marketable.

On the sidelines of a visit made by a delegation of Mozambican businessmen to the headquarters of the holding company, of which the petrochemical company is part, in Jakarta, the Indonesian capital, the CEO of Búzi Hydrocarbons, Taufan Rotorasiko said that "we have found two boreholes with gas, and now we are working with a third, in which we hope to confirm good quantities of resources.

However, as announced this year by the Council of Ministers, the definitive results on the natural gas potential in that region may not be known until 2024.

Gas exploration drilling in the region began in 2019, in a partnership between Búzi Hidrocarbonetos, with 75%, and the Mozambican state, with 25%, represented by Companhia Moçambicana de Hidrocarbonetos. The quantities of the resource still need to be ascertained.

"We expect to invest, first, about 15 million dollars, but we also plan to invest about 120 million dollars to build the platform," said the head of Búzi Hydrocarbons, quoted by "O País".

"So it's a great investment for the country, and we hope that it will create great opportunities for us and for Mozambique," he added.
