Absa Bank Mozambique was distinguished by the Bank of Mozambique (BM), with a certificate of honor as the financial institution that stood out for the timeliness in submitting statistical data, for the year 2021.
The distinction by the Central Bank also recognizes the quality of the statistical information presented by Absa Bank Mozambique.
The award was made recently, in the annual meeting of disclosure of indicators of the external sector, led by the Administrator of the Bank of Mozambique, Silvina Abreu.
This award also praises the committed work that the Back-Office and International Payments areas of Absa perform on a daily basis.
In the same ceremony were also distinguished other banks and non-financial companies such as CFM, Kenmare and Vodacom. From the public sector, the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Insurance Supervision Institute (ISSM) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) were awarded.
"For us it is an enormous honor to receive this distinction from the regulator of our activity and we are, therefore, very proud. This recognition encourages us to do more and better for the development of the national financial market. The quality of the data we provide is a reflection of our organizational culture and the ability of our Employees to constantly deliver a service of excellence," said Patrícia Darsam, Interim Director of Commercial and Investment Banking.
Financial institutions report to the BoM on a daily and monthly basis information on transactions between their clients and foreign entities. This information feeds the country's balance of payments and is therefore crucial for the government's decision-making process. The quality of the information reported, namely the correct statistical classification of transactions and the reporting within the deadlines set by the regulator, contribute to better decision making at the macro level and it was in this category that Absa was distinguished.
