The authorities have dismantled a 'mandrax' factory, a synthetic drug, in the administrative post of Machava, Matola, Maputo province, in one of the biggest seizures recorded this year, an official source said on Wednesday.

"We can register it as one of the best seizures [of the year], at least so far," said Amélia Machava, director of the Asset Recovery Office, quoted by Televisão de Moçambique.

The amount of 'mandrax' seized, which was in the form of small pills, is still unknown, the source said, adding that Mozambican and Chinese citizens allegedly involved in the case were arrested.
