Auditoria detecta gestão danosa de mais de 32 milhões de meticais na Faculdade de Educação da UEM

The Internal Audit Office (GAI) of Eduardo Mondlane University has detected the misuse of 32 million meticais at the Faculty of Education (FACED-UEM) between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018.

For that time interval there is a lack of evidence for the use of 1.837.476,72 of meticais for the acquisition of goods and services without a procurement process. Loans were also granted in favor of employees in the amount of 289.525,00 of meticais without any documental record.

It didn't stop there. Our source says that expense processes were discovered for the acquisition of goods and services without the respective justifications, totaling 479,714.80 meticais.

The GAI requested accounting documents and other information regarding that college's account domiciled in one of the commercial banks on the square, but FACED-UEM was unable to produce them.

"The auditors also say that in the bank account number 56344488 (of BIM UEM-FACED) was identified, on August 02, 2018, a transaction with check number 7255799, in the amount of 32,500.00 Mts, however, the bank cashed 132,500.00 Mts, that is, a difference of 100,000.00Mts more between the amount issued and cashed. Once again, there was no basis for withdrawal of that amount," writes the source.

In the report, one can also read that there was financing or sharing of studies for employees in the amount of 337.421,50 meticais without the proper authorization from the Rector. It is also said that there was undue payment of incentives without authorization, in the corresponding value of 195.648,90 meticais.
