The Archbishop of Beira, Dom Cláudio Dalla Zuanna, points to the loss of social cohesion within Mozambican families as the cause of different types of violence.
Quoted in a publication in "O País", the Archbishop argues that everyone must cultivate respect for life so that the country can recover its social well-being.
He said that social tension stems from different origins that contribute to social cohesion losing a lot of strength.
Dalla Zuanna was speaking at the end of a ceremony to open the academic year at UCM, where he is Chancellor Magnus, a ceremony that marked the start of the 30th anniversary festivities of this higher education institution.
