A British consortium led by Chelsea FC fans has confirmed to Daily Mail, this Monday, that he has launched a bid to buy the club from Russian Roman Abramovich.
"We have over €50 billion [£40 billion] in assets," writes the British newspaper citing the group of four firms, including Centricus, Cheyne Capital and Talis Capital.
Nizar Al-Bassam, co-founder of Centricus assured that the proposal is, on the whole, British. "We don't have any foreign investors."
According to the newspaper, this consortium is "the sixth group of bidders vying to buy Chelsea FC from Abramovich."
The deadline for submitting the offer is next Friday evening.
Nizar Al-Bassam was otherwise concerned that the club has been "bleeding money" since Abramovich, who has been subject to sanctions by the United Kingdom and the European Union because of his links to Vladimir Putin, put it up for sale.
"There is a clock [until a new owner for Chelsea is found] ticking because the club is bleeding money at a faster rate than it should be, while there is uncertainty. It makes me worried for the people there when I see this turmoil," he said.
