A six-year-old girl lost her life in a road accident yesterday in the Chongoene district of Xai-Xai City. The dead man's sister was seriously injured.

According to sources, the two sisters, aged six and 10, were on their way to Chongoene elementary school in Xai-Xai, only to be run over by a car on Tuesday morning.

Witnesses quoted by "O País" said that the car was traveling on the Inhambane-Xai-Xai route. The driver allegedly tried to overtake, but was unsuccessful and dragged the children for 15 meters.

Another minor sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Chongoene Health Center, which confirmed the incidents.

The clinical director of the health unit confirmed that the patient had suffered several fractures and a serious head injury. Daii was transferred to Xai-Xai Provincial Hospital.

This brings the number of people killed in road accidents in Gaza province from 27 to 28.
