Absa eleito “Melhor Instituição Financeira no Empoderamento das Mulheres” pelo 2.º ano consecutivo

Absa Bank Moçambique was recognized for the second year running as the "Best Financial Institution in Women's Empowerment in Mozambique 2024". The distinction was awarded by the prestigious British magazine Global Banking & Finance Review.

This recognition, according to the bank, reflects its ongoing efforts to promote female empowerment, creating an inclusive environment that is conducive to developing and retaining talent.

"This award highlights the Bank's efforts to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially number 5, to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. "We seek to build a more inclusive and sustainable society," said Hanifa Hassangy, Director of Human Capital at Absa Bank Mozambique, noting that in the last two years, Absa has implemented various training programs for women.

The source added that the recognition by the Global Banking & Finance Review reaffirms Absa Bank Mozambique's commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women, contributing to the country's sustainable economic and social growth.

Currently, as part of the 2023-2025 strategic plan, around 40% of the women in middle leadership positions at the Bank are taking a postgraduate course in leadership skills, which includes topics such as servant leadership, assertive communication, bank management and agile decision-making.

In addition, Absa Bank Mozambique has created the Women's Forum which, although it is not a training program, promotes a safe space for women and men to share experiences and ideas, encouraging the development of professional women.
