Absa Bank Mozambique financed the rehabilitation project for the railway line linking Sofala and Zimbabwe, which was inaugurated on November 23rd in Sofala Province.
This investment reinforces the institution's commitment to contributing to national socio-economic development.
The work began in 2019, in partnership with CFM, and covers a total length of 317 kilometers, linking the port city of Beira, in Sofala, to Zimbabwe.
With the rehabilitation of this infrastructure, it is hoped to boost the Southern African region, in accordance with the protocols of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), thus increasing the annual flow of cargo.
At the inauguration, Absa Bank Mozambique was represented by the Director of Corporate and Investment Banking, Patrícia Darsam, who said: "As well as financing this project, we are partners with CFM in several others.
In the case of this initiative, Absa Bank Mozambique financed CFM for the rehabilitation of the railway line linking the City of Beira to Zimbabwe. We intend to continue offering our support in future developments, ensuring growth and boosting the economy through infrastructure areas."
This rehabilitation is expected to increase the number of trains in the region, improve traffic safety conditions and reduce derailments, as well as reducing transit times.
This initiative once again demonstrates the Bank's commitment to promoting and investing in Mozambique and its communities.
