The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, sent a message of encouragement to the national soccer team, the Mambas, and the Mozambican people, ahead of tonight's match against Algeria.
Daniel Chapo also called for unconditional support from Mozambicans for the national team.
"I would like to wish our national team, the Mambas, who are playing today in Algiers, the capital of Algeria (...) a good job to the technical team, to our Mozambican Football Federation, to the players of the National Team and also to all the Mozambican people, from Rovuma to Maputo," said the Head of State.
The President of the Republic reiterated the importance of the support of Mozambicans, highlighting the role of the fans as the "12th player" of the national team.
"We're fans of our national team, we can't help but be, so we can pull for our team as the 12th player during today's game," he said.
Chapo said he was confident in the national team and reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting Mozambican soccer.
"I'd like to wish our national team, the 'Mambas', the best of luck and that they continue to bring us victories. We will continue to support our national team unconditionally," he said.
After beating Uganda, the Mambas are looking for another win against Algeria to secure top spot in Group G heading into the 2026 World Cup.
The match will take place at the Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium in Algiers, where the Mozambicans hope to see the national team shine and strengthen their chances of qualification.
A win in Algiers puts the 'Mambas' three points clear of the Algerians in the race for the 2026 World Cup.
