The President of the Assembly of the Republic, Margarida Talapa, yesterday praised the role of the Council of Religions of Mozambique (COREM) in the struggle to pacify the country.
Speaking in Maputo during an audience with the group's board, Talapa stressed that COREM must continue to promote peace, social cohesion and intercultural understanding in the country.
He urged the religious to continue praying for the pacification of the country and to be his advisors and consultants in the running of the highest legislative body in Mozambique.
Since last October, the country has been plagued by the post-election conflict and the natural disasters that are affecting the north of the country in particular.
