The government approved the Strategy proposal yesterday (11), which allows the National Development Strategy (ENDE) 2025-2044 to become law.
The draft strategy will have to be submitted to the Portuguese Parliament for approval.
It is a macro-planning instrument that reflects the understanding of the different segments of Mozambicans about the path and priorities for Mozambique's development over the next 20 years.
The information was provided by the government spokesman, Inocêncio Impissa, who was speaking yesterday in Maputo at the usual press briefing after the end of the 7th ordinary session of the Council of Ministers.
According to the government, ENDE aims to promote sustainable, inclusive, equitable and resilient development in the country, driven by economic growth, improving the quality of life of Mozambicans and reducing inequalities.
In June 2024, the government approved the same ENDE 2025-2044, but according to Impissa, who is also Minister of State Administration and Civil Service, several factors contributed to the re-evaluation of the instrument, above all the violent post-election demonstrations that broke out in mid-October last year, which subverted the country's main economic vectors.
The budget for implementing ENDE will come from the strategies and policies as well as the sectoral programs that will be drawn up during the period.
At the same session, the Executive assessed the implementation of the Plan for the first 100 days of government.
After 54 days, the balance sheet shows that, of the 96 planned indicators, 68 had a level of achievement above 50%, 18 between 25 and 49%, and 10 below 24%
Impissa explained that pacification and stability, which are points linked in the Plan, have to do with the creation of minimum conditions for life to continue normally, on the one hand, and the ongoing political dialogue, during which the parties signed the Commitment to Inclusive National Dialogue.
