At least 876 Mozambicans accused of illegal possession of weapons, homicide, physical assault, robbery and illegal migration have been deported from South Africa this year through the Ressano Garcia border crossing.
The information was provided by the spokesperson for the Maputo Provincial Migration Service, Carmen Mazenga, quoted by "Notícias", who highlighted the efforts underway to make citizens aware of the need to regularize their document situation.
According to the source, the first and last months of the year have been characterized by a large influx of Mozambicans entering and leaving South Africa.
Mazenga pointed out that, in most cases, travelers have irregular documentation, which results in illegal entry and subsequent deportation.
The majority of deportees are men aged between 17 and 40, and there are also women and children, but in smaller numbers.
"Operations at the border posts in Maputo province will continue to be monitored. It is essential to maintain operational efficiency in order to respond to mobility needs and reduce the number of deportations. This will avoid complications for citizens, as well as for the migration authorities," assured Mazenga. (Fonte Notícias)
