Around twelve hundred employees in the health sector, belonging to different North American non-governmental organizations, resumed their jobs yesterday in different health units in Maputo province.
They are workers in the fight against HIV and tuberculosis, who have returned to their jobs after the revocation of the US executive order announcing the suspension of foreign development assistance for 90 days.
According to Rádio Moçambique, the information was provided this Monday by the Provincial Health Director in Maputo, Daniel Tchemane
Tchemane, who was speaking during the first ordinary session of the provincial Executive Council, said that the last two weeks of suspension had been disruptive as far as work was concerned.
"We had major constraints in collecting data to the quality that we do for these programs, because we have a series of data entry clerks who are paid by this organization," said the official quoted by RM.
"It's been two weeks with a lot of constraints and we've also had to stop some supervisory activities," he added.
Last Thursday, Donald Trump's administration approved the immediate resumption of treatment for HIV & AIDS and Tuberculosis in 55 countries, including Mozambique.
