South Africa undecided on its participation in Daniel Chapo's inauguration ceremony

África do Sul indeciso sobre a sua participação na cerimónia de tomada de posse de Daniel Chapo

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says he is undecided about his participation in the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected president, Daniel Chapo, an event that will take place on January 15 in Maputo.

"As time progresses, we will analyze our program and see how well aligned it is with our various activities," the Mozambican news agency quoted him as saying.

Daniel Chapo's election was marked by protests and unrest, as the opposition rejects the election results, which led several times to the closure of the border crossing between the two countries.

In fact, estimates by South African businessmen show that their losses are estimated at around R10 million a day.

Ramaphosa goes on to say that "as members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) we are ready, willing and able to give them all the support we can to overcome the challenges they face and we hope that the inauguration on January 15 goes well and that they have our full support in every way possible"
