Once again, the police of the Republic of Mozambique took matters into their own hands this morning when they stopped a teachers' march using tear gas.
The act took place this morning in Maputo city, near the Commercial Institute, Avenida 24 de Julho.
According to reports from some teachers heard by CDD, some teachers were arrested, including the representative of ANAPRO, the National Teachers' Association.
"They are throwing tear gas at us, preventing us from demonstrating for no reason, this is unacceptable," said a teacher during the demonstration.
The march had been reported to the Maputo Municipality and the police authorities.
The teachers marched for better working conditions, overtime pay and teacher appreciation.
