PODEMOS distance from marches against election results

PODEMOS distância das marchas contra resultados eleitorais

The President of the PODEMOS party is discouraging citizens from taking to the streets to demonstrate against the preliminary results released by the National Electoral Commission (CNE) in the context of the October 9 elections.

Albino Forquilha told a press conference this Sunday that no citizen should demonstrate in the street and that the party is taking legal action to challenge the results before the competent institutions.

"The party's position, which is shared with the candidate, is that we are currently going through the process of challenging the results at district level and then we will move on to the general challenge, so that the document we are putting together can be taken into account," he said.

Forquilha also said that the party has not announced a street strike. In this sense, no citizen should demonstrate in the street today.
