The police of the Republic of Mozambique have just rescued businessman Sunil Ratilal, owner of Megabyte, an information technology services store.

The businessman was kidnapped this morning in downtown Maputo at around 8am.

The police say that the rescue was possible thanks to the cross-checking of information between all the police units that border the city of Maputo and from this cross-checking there was very rigorous flanking of vehicles with similar characteristics to the vehicle used to carry out the kidnapping.

In the midst of a major police chase, the kidnappers abandoned the businessman inside the car and fled. The police are on the trail of the kidnappers.

According to the police spokesman for Maputo city, Leonel Muchina, the victim is currently in a police unit and is in good health.
