Gaza/ EDM: carries out more than 5,000 new home connections

Gaza/ EDM: realiza mais de 5 mil novas ligações domiciliares

Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), in Chókwe, Gaza, connected 5,230 new families to the electricity grid in the first six months of this year.

The figure represents 42% of EDM-Chókwe's target for this year, which is 12,500 new connections, according to Rádio Moçambique, quoting the head of that province.

Júlio Simango, director of EDM Chókwe's customer service department, is optimistic that the target will be met, given the company's ongoing projects to expand the electricity network.

Simango notes that grid expansion work is underway in several communities in the Chókwe and Guijá districts, as part of the universal access to energy program.

EDM Chókwe currently has a customer base of 136,665 consumers spread across nine districts in Gaza province, as well as Magude and part of Manhiça district in Maputo province.
