The United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for Mozambique, Catherine Sozi, called for a peaceful, transparent and inclusive election campaign.
In a statement to which MZNews had access, Catherine Sozi reaffirmed the United Nations' continued support for the Mozambican people and hoped for a peaceful, transparent and inclusive electoral campaign and a voting day that would deepen and consolidate the country's democratic gains.
According to the coordinator of humanitarian affairs in Mozambique, "a peaceful and democratic electoral process is essential for the prosperity and stability of any nation".
Sozi encourages all Mozambican citizens to exercise their democratic rights responsibly and peacefully by participating in the electoral process and voting on election day.
"The United Nations is with Mozambique during this crucial moment, to make the General Elections a celebration of democracy, where the voices of the people are heard, their choices respected and their votes count," he said.
"By doing so, democracy is strengthened and a brighter future for all Mozambicans is guaranteed," he concluded.
