MRG Metals, a heavy mineral sands exploration company focused on project development, is accelerating exploration programs in its portfolio of projects in Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
At the Adriano Rare Earth Exploration Project in Mozambique, 46 stream sediment samples were delivered to the ALS analytical laboratory in South Africa for multi-elemental analysis.
According to a company statement, five heavy mineral concentrates extracted from strategically located streams in the Adriano drainage system, within the exploration license, were delivered to the Scientific Services laboratory in Cape Town, South Africa.
The heavy mineral concentrates have been cleaned by heavy liquid separation, and magnetic separation specifically targeting monazite will now take place. A mineralogical study of the concentrates will follow.
MRG also plans to conduct follow-up explorations to target areas with positive results from the initial stream sediment study.
Chairman Andrew Van Der Zwan says that both prospects are considered excellent for the company, which will make rapid progress if exploration results justify more work.
"Securing the Corridor HMS Joint Venture in Mozambique was a breakthrough for MRG and, in parallel with developing this partnership, the company has focused on advancing its pipeline of projects," says Van Der Zwan.
"We look forward to reporting soon on the results of the test sampling programs at both projects and continuing the follow-up exploration we have planned.
"The JV with SLC continues to progress, with the second board meeting planned for next week."
Van Der Zwan adds that, on behalf of the JV, MRG has submitted a revised mining license application, with related activities being carried out simultaneously.
