Twenty-six scholarship students from various corners of the country left today for France on higher education scholarships awarded by the Mozambique LNG Project, operated by TotalEnergies.
This is the fourth edition of the scholarship program, developed in partnership with the French Embassy in Mozambique and aligned with the policies of the Mozambican government.
The scholarships were awarded after a rigorous selection process that took into account a series of criteria, including academic excellence, gender diversity, provincial origin and the candidates' background.
In the last four years, this program has provided a total of 94 scholarships, with the aim of contributing to the education and development of young talent in Mozambique.
For this year's edition, out of 1,643 applicants from all over the country, 26 young people were selected in collaboration with the French Embassy - 12 of whom are women.
This group of students will attend some of France's most renowned university institutions, covering Bachelor Universitaire de Technologie and Master's levels.
Elsa Bernardoff, Cooperation Attaché at the French Embassy in Mozambique, said: "The French Embassy is fully committed to university cooperation in Mozambique, through training initiatives for trainers and support for the exchange of scientific knowledge.
This "study in France" mobility program is complementary to the rest of our activities, as it strengthens the skills of young students who, on their return, wish to contribute to the development of their country.
For her part, Laila Chilemba, Vice President of Communications and Public Relations at TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada, said that "it is with great satisfaction that, for the fourth consecutive year, the Mozambique LNG Project is witnessing the departure of these young students for France.
With the 26 students now leaving for Paris, we have reached a total of 94 scholarship holders so far. In the year in which TotalEnergies celebrates its centenary, we have exceeded our initial expectations and will reach the mark of 100 scholarships awarded by the program in the coming months, sending more students to continue their studies abroad.
This milestone is proof of our commitment to preparing for the future, contributing to excellent education and the training of qualified personnel who will contribute to boosting Mozambique's development."
