The African Development Bank (AfDB) has financed the construction of a bridge over the Metuchira River in the Nhamatanda district of Sofala.
Valued at 1,210,000 US dollars, the infrastructure will be 180 meters long with a load capacity of 30 tons.
Governor Lourenço Ferreira Bulha, who laid the foundation stone last Friday, said that the construction of the infrastructure is part of post-cyclone recovery.
When it is built, the bridge will make it easier to transport products from the production areas to the province's major markets.
The bridge will benefit three localities and will serve as an interconnection with the Gorongosa district. It is expected that 104,136 people will benefit from the infrastructure.
