The national soccer team (Mambas) has been nominated for the CAF Awards 2023, the result of an excellent campaign that culminated in qualification for CAN.

According to the newspaper o País, the Mambas are in the running for the category of best team of the year. For his part, Chiquinho Conde is among the 10 nominees for best African coach of the year.

It should be noted that the national coach has successfully led the Mambas to their fifth appearance in the highest tier of African soccer. He is the first Mozambican coach to be nominated for this category.

Mozambique is part of a list that includes countries such as Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, Morocco, Namibia and Tanzania.

The CAF Awards include other categories, most notably the best player of the year, with 30 players nominated.

The CAF Awards is one of the most important moments in the African soccer calendar, designed to recognize and reward the best players, coaches and teams on the continent.
