Mark Zuckerberg's new Threads social network already has a web version

Nova rede social Threads de Mark Zuckerberg já conta com a versão web

Threads, the social network launched to compete with Twitter, will have a web version, to be launched in full over the next few days, although some users can already access it.

The news was first reported by The Wall Steet Journal and has since been confirmed by Meta itself.

The interface available via the web is similar to that of the app, however, the navigation icons are at the top of the page, while in the bottom left corner there is a button that allows users to switch between the "For You" and "Following Feeds" features, reveals the Media Post.

According to Meta's announcement, more features will be added to the web version of the social network over the next few weeks, bearing in mind that the web version is still very limited. For example, users are currently unable to edit their profile or send a post via messages - things they can do on the mobile version.

In a humorous tone, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, also published on Threads an old photo of you - edited so that you see a web version of Threads on your computer screen - announcing that it will be made available over the next few days.

The launch of this new web-accessible version, without the use of an app, comes shortly after the social network recorded a decrease of 79% in active users in July alone, and after Zuckerberg mentioned problems with user loyalty.

This new data has dampened the initial success of the platform, which gained ten million profiles in the first seven hours, while the 100 million user mark was surpassed in just five days.

Meta's latest text-based social media venture is designed to dethrone X (formerly Twitter) and is available in 100 countries, excluding the European Union for the time being, as European authorities have not approved its launch on the continent because it is mandatory for users to have an Instagram account in order to create a Threads profile.

The application, which is thus linked to Instagram, has an interface very similar to Twitter's, but messages are grouped into just two columns, "threads" and "replies". Users can like, comment, share or forward messages.
