The Secretary of State in Maputo City, Vicente Joaquim, representing the Secretary of State for Sport, opened the 1st Meeting of the Sports Consultative Council of the African Union Region 5 (AUSCR5) on Friday morning (12/05/23), where he said that he expected this meeting to review all the deliberations of the sports commissions and committees for the improvement of national sport as well as that of the region.

"Mozambique has always been there to contribute to the success of sport in the region, so our country as a whole and the city of Maputo in particular, will continue to provide all the necessary support to the region in line with the vision of the pioneers of the development of Sport in Africa and in the region, as well as in fulfillment of our constitutional obligations," he said.

It should be noted that the event was attended by representatives from Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia, national sports directors from AUSC, Region 5, representatives from the different AUSC specialized technical commissions, sports directors from the State Secretariat for Sport, and other guests.
